Salma Hasan Ali Named Finalist for the March of Dimes Heroines of Washington Awards
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 25, 2019)– Salma Hasan Ali, Principal of SHA Storytelling Consulting, is selected as a finalist for the March of Dimes Heroines of Washington Awards.
The March of Dimes Heroines of Washington Awards gala is one of Washington’s most esteemed events, recognizing and honoring women in the D.C. Metro Area for their dedication to community service. The awards honor women in categories including healthcare, real estate, professional services, technology, public sector, rising heroine and lifetime achievement.
Salma was chosen from a select group of women for giving back to her community through tremendous feats of volunteerism that go above and beyond her employment requirements. Salma’s tireless dedication to causes such as KindWorks, as well as her writing and storytelling efforts to share the human stories of refugees, immigrants and other marginalized communities, solidified her placement as a finalist.
Salma’s life passion is to inspire every person to feel that they can make a difference in the world, and that impacting one life matters. She is committed to nurturing a sense of community where people respect each other’s cultures, faiths, and differences. As Chief Inspiration Officer, Salma has helped lead KindWorks for the past 11 years and is its longest serving Board member. Through her writing and blog, Salma reveals how much people have in common and how our most important bond is our common humanity. She was recently nominated for the 2019 El Hibri Foundation Community Builder Award.
“I am truly humbled to be selected as a March of Dimes Heroines of Washington finalist,” says Salma. “So many are doing so much good, may our collective efforts change the lives of families and communities in need; and may we always remember that change starts with one person doing one kind thing. Thank you so much for this unexpected gift.”
Salma is Principal of SHA Storytelling Consulting, where she helps businesses, nonprofits and individuals figure out their ‘story’, and develops, writes and markets these stories for greatest impact. Her clients range from management firms to individuals interested in capturing their own personal story.
