Dr. Khala shared something that she learned from her father (my Nana) – that you’re more likely to do something by example than by someone telling you to do it.
She told the story of when her father lived at their house. “He was a very religious man mA, he would pray five times a day, which wasn’t very common at our home,” khala says. “But he wouldn’t say anything to me or Noor.”
“One day, Noor joined him in prayer – and my father had tears in his eyes.”
Day 24 Wisdom 24: Teach by example.
PS: Dr. Khala added one more story, turning a traditional wisdom on its head! Her adorable grandson Zayn, 10, was sitting beside her and she said she had been teaching him how to knit; he picked it up quickly and enjoyed it so much, he was knitting a blanket for his sister’s doll. “You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but you can teach a new dog old tricks,” Dr. Khala laughed!
