Look into their eyes

MG_8417_1.jpg

Half of all refugees are children; that's more than 10 million children. It's hard to imagine that number; so instead just imagine these little kids whom we had the pleasure of meeting at camps in Greece. Innocent, beautiful children, many of whom have only known war, desperation, and homelessness. And yet, they smile; and play with whatever they can gather - sometimes a puddle of water, stones and sticks, a metal pipe, buckets, donated toys - or a torn kite that a little fellow tried to will to fly, or a roll of toilet paper that two others pretended was their camera, just like Saanya's.What will it take to look into the eyes of these children, and see our own.Photos: Saanya Ali
